Exchange "12" DevCon Scheduled

Even as the SQL Server 2005 launch takes place in San Francisco Nov. 7, Microsoft will be quietly giving developers and ISVs inside details on the next version of its other major back-end server -- Exchange.

Microsoft will host an Exchange "12" Developer Conference at its Redmond, Wash. campus on Nov. 7 and 8, the Microsoft Exchange team said in a blog posting on Tuesday afternoon.

"The conference will provide selected ISVs with an early look at the “E12” investment areas and will provide you with an early look at the “E12” development roadmap, describe the characteristic of new investments we are making in Exchange 12, and provide an opportunity for you to see first hand what new features and development environments that will be optimized in “E12,” KC Lemson, a program manager with the Exchange Server team, wrote in the blog.

Technical sessions at the development conference will include:

  • “E12” overview and the Exchange extensibility roadmap
  • Exchange 12 architecture
  • Exchange 12 programmability roadmap
  • Synchronization architecture and device access
  • Web services integration & APIs
  • Policy engine and secure messaging
  • Outlook 12 extensibility roadmap.

    Microsoft will also be launching SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005 and BizTalk Server 2006 the same week at an event in San Francisco.
