Microsoft Deployment Tool for Exchange 2013 Available
Microsoft released its Exchange Server 2013 Deployment Assistant tool on Monday.
The Deployment Assistant is a Web portal that's accessed through a browser. It poses a series of questions to IT pros. Based on the responses, the Deployment Assistant will create instructions for deploying Exchange 2013, according to Microsoft's description.
The Deployment Assistant portal, which can be accessed here, creates the installation tips based on on-premise, cloud and hybrid deployments.
The tool is still a work in progress and doesn't cover all deployment scenarios. This release provides support for new "greenfield" Exchange deployments. In "coming months," Microsoft plans to add instructions for upgrading from Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007.
Deployment assistant will create a "customized checklist" for IT pros, which is supposedly more effective than the usual method of getting deployment information.
"Instead of trying to find what you need in the Exchange library, the Deployment Assistant gives you exactly the right information you need to complete your task," Microsoft claimed in the announcement.
