Apple Issues iOS 6.1.2 To Fix Exchange Overload Problem

Apple issued an iOS update on Tuesday to fix a calendar bug that was overloading Microsoft Exchange 2010.

The iOS 6.1.2 update is designed for iPhone 3GS and later versions, iPhone 5, the iPad 2 and later releases, as well as iPod touch versions. Apple and Microsoft worked together on the problem, which caused excessive log activity on Exchange 2010 and drained the batteries of iOS 6-based devices.

Microsoft issued an alert about the availability of the new update here.

Press reports regarding the new iOS 6.1.2 update suggest that the issue with Exchange 2010 has been fixed with this release. However, a flaw that lets people bypass a security lock screen on iOS devices may still be a problem.

A ZDNet story indicates that the lock-screen glitch is fixed with the update. However, an Ars Technica story claims that the flaw still hasn't been resolved.
