Deploying Windows Server 2008 (Exam 70-643)

How to roll out Windows Server 2008 without touching all of the computers.

You're the network admin for Contoso.com. You've been assigned to design a deployment solution for a rollout of 25 installations of Windows Server 2008. Management requests the ability to deploy operating systems remotely from a central location. Which deployment solution should you use to meet this requirement?

a. Hyper-V
b. WDS
c. DVD
d. SCCM 2007

D. System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 can be used to deploy Windows Server 2008 by creating fully managed, unattended deployments to remote computers.

SCCM 2007 can identify computers that meet the hardware requirements for a given OS; distribute the OS source files to all computers and sites (even those without technical staff); monitor distribution; automatically initiate installation; resolve problems during installation; report rate and success of deployments; and verify upgrades have finished.

Tip: SCCM 2007 can't deploy OSes to bare-metal systems.
