Hosting.com announced that it is offering Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 hosting for free until Jan. 1, 2006. The Express and Standard plans include 1GB disk space, 50GB monthly data transfer, 100 e-mail boxes for the primary domain with 500MB of total space and three FTP accounts. Edgewood Solutions released a report, “SQL Server 2005 Adoption Issues: Evaluating Risks and Readiness,” surveying the risks and benefits of upgrading to Microsoft’s just-released SQL Server 2005. For the report, a random survey of 462 U.S. database administrators, developers, business intelligence managers, IT managers and knowledge workers was conducted from Aug. 15 to Sept. 15. The top five perceived benefits sited in the report are: improved performance, .NET integration, T-SQL enhancements, SQL Server Integration Services and BI/reporting services.
