From the business wires this week: data recovery software for Windows File Systems, a .NET tool for creating application skins, and a near-indestructible tablet PC.

Just as Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox 360 gaming console’s interchangeable faceplates will let users customize the look of their Xboxes, DirectSkin 4.5 from Stardock enables .NET Framework-based developers create unique GUIs for their applications. The developing tool integrates third-party software and can lock in one look for the application or allow users to select from different skins. DirectSkin supports all major Microsoft development environments, including Visual Basic, C++, .NET 2003 and Visual C# .NET 2003. http://www.directskin.com
