Messaging Exam Beta Set for Mid-January

Microsoft to release 70-285, Exchange Messaging exam for Jan. 16-22.

Microsoft Corp. is expected to offer Exam 70-285, Designing a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Organization, to beta testers beginning Friday, January 16. The beta will end January 22. This, according to the availability of the exam on VUE, one of the official testing centers that will deliver it. While in beta the exam will be numbered 71-285 and will be free to qualified candidates who receive an invitation from the company. Microsoft typically doesn't comment on exams in development.

According to the exam objectives guides for Exam 70-285, candidates who pass the exam can use it as elective credit toward the MCSE on Windows Server 2003 and core credit for the MCSE: Messaging on Windows Server 2003. The company recommends that candidates who plan to take it have at least one year of experience planning, designing and managing an enterprise-scale, Exchange-based messaging system.

The company offers one official training resource based on this exam: Clinic 2008: Designing a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Organization. The clinic is a two-day instructor-led course that will be available at Microsoft CTECs worldwide later this year.
