.NET Passport Coming to MCP Secure Site

Later this month, Microsoft will begin implementing .NET Passport login for its MCP Secured and MCT Secured sites.

Sometime this month, Microsoft will begin implementing .NET Passport login for its MCP and MCT secured sites, replacing the current authentication procedure which requires an MCP number and Online ID.

Passport may be familiar to those who use Microsoft's free e-mail service, HotMail, where Passport has been deployed for about a year. According to a news item on the MCP Web site, Microsoft decided to implement the new login procedure to simplify login and navigation among any site that uses Passport. Besides Hotmail, Passport is also used for authentication on the company's MSN and MSN Messenger.

Microsoft says it will release more details and sign-up instructions to subscribers of the MCP Newsflash newsletter and on the publicly accessible portion of the MCP site at http://www.microsoft.com/mcp/.
